ABOUT ALMALAND

We specialise in plastics certification

Experience, independence and understanding of real industrial processes

Almaland sp. z o.o. is a certification body specialising in processes related to plastic-waste sorting, recycling, traceability, the use of recycled materials and packaging recyclability.

We conduct certification processes for companies operating at different stages of the plastics value chain – from waste and sorting, through recycling processes, to the use of recycled material in new products.

WHO ARE WE?

A certification body focused on the plastics industry

Our activities do not cover dozens of unrelated industries. We focus on plastics and their circulation in the economy.

Practical approachWe analyse certification requirements in relation to what actually happens to the material at the facility.
THE ENTIRE PLASTICS VALUE CHAIN

Each stage affects the next

In parallel: packaging design → collection → sorting → recycling → reuse of material.

THE ENTIRE VALUE CHAIN

We look at the material from waste to the next product

We analyse certification requirements against the actual material flow. This means the assessment does not stop at documentation; it also covers what actually happens at the facility and between successive participants in the value chain.

ORIGIN AND COLLECTION

The waste source, collection system, classification, supplier and the ability to reliably link the physical material to its documentation all matter.

SORTING

The assessment may cover how relevant fractions are separated, traceability, the quality of sorted material and the consistency of quantitative data.

RECYCLING

The actual process of transforming waste into recycled output material is assessed together with quality control, the material balance and the scope of certified products.

RECYCLED MATERIAL

Regranulate, flakes, regrind or other recycled material should have clearly defined origin, status and parameters relevant to the downstream customer.

DOWNSTREAM USE

At later stages, maintaining traceability, actual recycled content, controlled blending and the ability to verify claims become essential.

PACKAGING AND RECYCLABILITY

In parallel, packaging design can be assessed with regard to collection, sorting, recycling and the possibility of reusing the recovered plastic.

RECYCLASS AT ALMALAND

Four core areas

Sorting Process
For sorting facilities and appropriate waste-trading organisations.
Recycling Process
For companies processing plastic waste into recycled output materials.
Recycled Plastics Traceability
Downstream use and traceability of recycled material.
Recyclability
Assessment of packaging recyclability.

EXPERIENCE THAT STARTED BEFORE RECYCLASS

Our expertise did not begin with today’s audit schemes

EuCertPlast — earlier certification processes related to recycling, traceability, material balance and quality.
Recovinyl / RecoTrace — experience auditing PVC recycling facilities, including verification of reported volumes, material flows and data used in the RecoTrace system.
Blue Angel — experience supporting companies in preparing for relevant requirements.
AUDITOR EXPERIENCE

Certification requires more than knowing a checklist

An auditor should be able to connect scheme requirements with how the company actually operates.

NOT JUST DOCUMENTATION

The document should reflect reality

Warehouse — are materials actually traceable?
Production line — does the flow match the documentation?
Traceability — can material be tracked from input to output?
Material balance — are the quantitative data consistent?
Quality control — are the declared checks actually carried out?
Products — does the scope match what the organisation produces?

OPERATING STANDARD

The credibility of certification is based on four principles

For Almaland, not only compliance with scheme requirements matters, but also how the entire certification process is conducted.

COMPETENCE

The process should be conducted by people who understand both the scheme requirements and the actual industrial process, technology and quantitative data.

IMPARTIALITY

The outcome must follow from evidence. A commercial relationship, previous cooperation or the value of an assignment cannot replace an objective conformity assessment.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Supplier data, recipes, purchasing, sales, process parameters and customer information are protected in accordance with the rules applicable to the certification body.

ACCURATE CERTIFICATION SCOPE

The certificate scope should correspond exactly to what was actually assessed: the relevant process, location, products, materials and additional modules.

INDEPENDENT REVIEW

Where required by the scheme, the documentation and audit result undergo a separate technical review before the certification process is completed.

TRANSPARENCY OF STATUS

We present accreditation and recognition status separately for each scheme. We do not use accreditation information for activities outside the current AC 246 scope.

ACCREDITATION AND RECOGNITION

Formal status should be clear

PCA AC 246
Accreditation of the Polish Centre for Accreditation against PN-EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013-03.
RecyClass
Individual schemes operate under different accreditation and recognition models.
Accreditation and recognition
IMPARTIALITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY

The value of certification depends on an independent outcome and proper protection of information

Impartiality — the outcome is based on evidence, while conflicts of interest are identified and assessed.
Confidentiality — supplier, production, recipe, sales and customer data are protected.
An audit is not consulting — the role of the certification body is independent conformity assessment.
