AT A GLANCE

AC 246 is Almaland's accreditation number issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation. The number identifies the accredited body, but does not by itself establish whether a particular service falls within the accredited scope. That information is set out in the current Scope of Accreditation No. AC 246.

What does AC 246 next to Almaland's name actually mean?

AC 246 is Almaland's accreditation number issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA). It identifies the accredited certification body, but does not by itself show whether a particular service falls within the accredited scope. That information is set out in the current Scope of Accreditation No. AC 246.

1. The accreditation certificate and scope are different documents

The accreditation certificate confirms that the body meets the requirements of the specified standard for the scope defined by PCA. The AC 246 certificate refers to PN-EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013-03.

The scope of accreditation is more detailed. It identifies the activities, normative documents and specific areas covered by accreditation.

2. Start by checking the number and organisation name

The document should identify Almaland Sp. z o.o. and accreditation number AC 246. This confirms that it relates to the correct organisation.

If the name, address or scope changes, use the current document rather than an old copy downloaded several years earlier.

3. Check the normative basis

The AC 246 certificate refers to PN-EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013-03, the standard for bodies certifying products, processes and services.

This does not mean that the standard itself defines RecyClass technical requirements. The applicable audit schemes remain separate normative documents of the certification programme.

4. Look for the specific type of certification in the scope

The relevant activity and reference document are the most important entries for a client. A service outside the current scope of accreditation must not be described as accredited simply because the body holds AC 246.

Read the scope as written, without extending its meaning.

5. The available scope covers Recycling Process and Recycled Plastics Traceability

The AC 246 scope provided in Almaland's document section includes plastics recycling process certification and recycled plastics traceability certification, with references to RecyClass documentation, EN 15343, PN-EN 15343 and ISO 22095.

The scope, rather than the general name “RecyClass”, is the basis for describing the accredited status of particular services.

6. The document version and date matter

Accreditation scopes are updated. The published document may have an issue number and date, and a newer scope can replace an earlier one.

Before issuing a quotation, signing a contract or using accreditation information in a tender, confirm that the latest version is being used.

7. The PCA symbol does not extend the scope

Use of an accreditation symbol on a website, quotation or certificate is subject to PCA rules. It must not imply that a service outside the scope is accredited.

A client should not infer the status of a service from the symbol alone.

8. Accreditation scope is different from RecyClass recognition

PCA assesses the body's competence within the formal accreditation system. As the scheme owner, RecyClass operates its own recognition system for certification bodies and auditors.

Both statuses can apply to a service, but they should be checked separately.

9. How to check a service step by step

  1. Identify the RecyClass programme.
  2. Open the current Scope of Accreditation AC 246.
  3. Find the relevant activity and normative document.
  4. Check the version and date.
  5. Verify Almaland's current status on the RecyClass website.

Only then can the service's status be described precisely.

10. What about Sorting Process and Recyclability?

Almaland's knowledge base distinguishes Sorting Process and Recyclability from activities automatically covered by AC 246. These services should only be described as accredited where this follows from the current PCA scope. Check current RecyClass recognition and any changes to accreditation separately.

This prevents the overly broad use of the term “accredited certification”.

11. Specific wording is the clearest approach

Instead of saying “Almaland is accredited for RecyClass”, identify AC 246, the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17065 basis and the particular programme included in the current scope.

This makes the statement easy for the client to verify and reduces misunderstanding.
